The Late Late Show‘s James Corden took Prince Harry on his first guided tour of Los Angeles on Feb. 25. The two Brits had a revealing chat about the latest developments in the guest’s life while riding around the L.A. area on top of an open-air bus.
Stepping Back Instead of Stepping Down
In answer to James’ question about the announcement from Feb 19 that Harry and his wife would not return as working members of the royal family, Prince Harry replied that they wouldn’t walk away but step down. The environment they were in was rather difficult and destructive for the married couple’s mental health. Still, Harry said he was willing to contribute wherever he was in the world.
How Harry Knew He Was in Love with Meghan
Elsewhere in the same interview, James asked how the prince knew he was in love with Meghan. Harry answered that it was during their second date and that he and Meghan had hit off with each other then and felt comfortable in each other’s company. Prince Harry specified that dating a royal member always is the opposite of regular dating as the couples first spend some low-key time together behind closed doors before presenting themselves to the public eye.
The Typical Day of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Prince Harry described their usual day as a family with Meghan and son Archie in Santa Barbara. Prince Harry said they did regular things like tea for Archie, a bath for the boy, then read him a book and put him down. They, the couple would go downstairs, Meghan would cook a meal or order a takeaway, go upstairs, sit in bed, watch some TV, or a bit of Netflix.
Netflix’s The Crown
Harry thinks that The Crown is fictional and only loosely based on the truth. Harry is more comfortable with The Crown than with seeing stories about his wife, his family, and himself. The difference, according to the Duke of Sussex, is that the crown is obviously fiction, while the stories are being reported as facts.
Prince Harry on Fatherhood
In the interview, Harry gushed about Archie and the boy’s “most amazing personality.” Harry shared that the kid’s first word was “crocodile,” Archie already put three or four worlds together and started singing songs. Harry also shared that he and Meghan had Zoomed several times with his Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip so that the grandparents could see Archie have some fun.
